I took this quilt on our hike this morning to Quarry Hill Park because I have been itching to get photos of it against the fabulous rock wall on the trails. This wall is gorgeous, historic, and used for climber training – how cool is that? Plus with two helpers the whole of a king size quilt can unfurl in all its glory for photos. Buds have finally started to open up here in Minnesota, and with the sun we’ve had the last few days trees are blooming and everything has exploded in green. I couldn’t help but take photos of the cover quilt in a few other places, thrown over this and that. Quilts in the wild!
I owe a great debt of gratitude to the quilters who tested this pattern for me. They made beautiful quilts, and their comments and feedback lent me fresh eyes and improved my pattern. The fact that all of their quilt tops turned out so differently is a wonderful showcase of the versatility of the pattern. Thank you thank you thank you to Susan Taubel, Dawn Pedersen, Vanessa Griffin, Fiona Feeney, and Bethany Green. Check out their fabulous work!
I can’t keep my hands off my own pattern, so I made several samples myself as well. I decided to make two crib size versions to test the friendliness of the crib size pattern to both jelly rolls and fat quarters. Verdict: friendly!
There is so much in the pipeline on this journey, and I am buzzing with excitement and ideas for what comes next. But, for now, I’m going to enjoy today. It’s May, it’s finally spring, and I am seeing a whole lotta color all around.
